FIN DAC

Biography

FIN DAC

Originally from Cork in Ireland, Fin Dac (or Finbarr Dac) has lived in London all his life. Alongside his experience as art director of a SoHo gallery, he has been involved in the development of urban art. His influences range from dark graphic novels to the works of Francis Bacon and Aubrey Beardsley. Active since 2008, this self-taught, anti-conformist artist paints on walls all over the world.

His work has no political message: it focuses solely on beauty and aesthetics. His attention to detail sets him apart from other urban artists. Through his ‘Geishas’, Fin Dac explores themes linked to the emancipation and empowerment of women, while revealing their sensuality and sensitivity. The artist asserts that women are both powerful and vulnerable, aesthetic and intellectual, physically capable and endowed with deep emotional reserves.

Most of Fin Dac’s work is created using stencils, combined with a unique painting technique that leaves splashes at eye level. This colourful ‘mask’ has become a veritable artistic signature.
