« FLORIMOND » : A UNIQUE SCULPTURE FOR HUMAN ADVENTURE
Created especially for the ‘Un Trésor à la Carte’ project, Bruno Catalano is unveiling a new ‘Voyageur’: ‘FLORIMOND’.
This creation has a particular resonance with the personal history of the artist, himself a former sailor who worked for the Société Nationale Corse-Méditerranée (SNCM). ‘FLORIMOND’ is adorned with a mosaic of nautical charts, generously donated by sailor Jean-Baptiste Le Vaillant.
This unique work will be honoured at the ‘Un Trésor à la Carte’ auction, to be held on Tuesday 3 December 2024 at Lafayette Anticipations and live on Drouot Live. Orchestrated by the Millon auction house, the evening has an exceptional philanthropic dimension: all proceeds will be donated to organisations involved in sea rescue, including Navire Avenir, SOS MÉDITERRANÉE France and Les Sauveteurs en Mer (SNSM).
A symbol of a world in perpetual motion, ‘FLORIMOND’ celebrates the spirit of travel, human solidarity and the strength of collective commitment. It invites us all to navigate between memory and modernity, to reinterpret the essential values that unite us, and to take a fresh look at art as a vehicle for humanity.
