BENOÎT DUTOUR
Biography
Benoît Dutour is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist born in 1967. His passion for art goes back to his childhood, when he was an auditor at the Beaux-Arts in Clermont-Ferrand. At the same time, he began studying law, which he rounded off with a captivating professional career, particularly enjoying the challenges posed by complex cases, to which he brings creative solutions.
Benoît Dutour likes to captivate his audience, blending humor and aesthetics. He incorporates existential questions directly into his creations, making them not only visually appealing, but also deeply introspective.
Throughout the history of art, many artists have sought to approach perfect forms, attempting to transcend our human condition in a quest for purity, absoluteness and even spirituality. The drop of water, source of life, embodies this universal link between heaven and earth. The choice of the word “tear” is particularly significant: a product of our bodies, the tear is an intimate expression of both joy and sorrow. Benoît Dutour explores this duality in his sculptures, where the choice of integrated objects is decisive. Joy is expressed through elements such as flower petals, diamonds, butterflies or four-leaf clovers, while sorrow is expressed through decaying leaves or other symbols of fragility. Each “tear” is unique, filled with solid material and charged with meaning, a veritable digest of universal emotions.
