EUDALD DE JUANA

Biography

EUDALD DE JUANA

Eudald de Juana Gorriz was born in 1988 in a small town near Girona (Spain). He grew up in a family of sculptors where, surrounded by an artistic and natural environment, he learned the trade and developed a deep interest in art. At the age of 19, he enrolled at the University of Barcelona (UB) Fine Arts School, where he explored various artistic disciplines and perfected his approach to composition. After graduating in 2012, he left Spain for Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, to follow a rigorous course in sculpture and academic drawing at the Florence Academy of Art. After teaching sculpture and drawing for three years at this prestigious institution, Eudald de Juana Gorriz returned to his home town of Navata, near Figueres, in 2018. There he founded Geode Art Space, a studio in the heart of nature that is both a place for personal creation and a forum for other artists.

The human body, an inexhaustible source of inspiration, is at the heart of Eudald de Juana Gorriz’s artistic approach. He explores its complexity and expressiveness, while placing particular importance on composition, the cornerstone of his creative process. The artist plays on contrasts – silence and noise, organic and geometric forms – to infuse his sculptures with a vibrant, balanced dynamic. Light, the central element of her work, runs through the pieces, linking the volumes and lending an almost painterly unity to the whole.

Her sculptures are distinguished by their raw textures and visible marks left after modelling, revealing a striking authenticity. Each work is the fruit of meticulous reflection and technical mastery, enabling her to deconstruct the human form while preserving its harmony. By adding colour, applied freely and spontaneously, Eudald de Juana Gorriz creates a subtle dialogue between formal rigour and chromatic abstraction.
