KIEV DRESSES IN RED
To support Ukraine, which celebrated its independence from the former Soviet Union on Sunday 25 August, street artist James Colomina installed several of his red sculptures in iconic locations in Kiev.
His artworks ‘THE MESSAGER’, ‘THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE BALANÇOIRE’, ‘THE ATTRAP ♡’ and ‘THE MARELLE’ highlight the vulnerability of children in times of war, while ‘THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE TURNOIL’ symbolises the vision of a bright future full of freedom. ‘LA COLOMBE’, perched on a lamppost in Place de l’Indépendance, represents hope and reconciliation.
Through this large-scale ‘happening’, the artist reminds us that peace in Ukraine is a global issue. International solidarity is essential to ensure a better tomorrow for future generations.
